DATA INCOMING: MYSODA IS CALCULATING GROUP-WIDE CARBON EMISSIONS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE COMPANY’S HISTORY
Sustainability has been at the core of what Mysoda stands for from day one. We drive the use of sustainable and innovative materials in the home carbonation industry. Through offering products across different price ranges, we want to ensure that sustainable homemade sparkling water is accessible to as many people as possible. In addition, Mysoda is a member of Amfori and has been carrying out regular third-party audits of our production site to ensure human rights due diligence or our suppliers.
Yet, we know that nobody is perfect, and neither are we. To take truly effective measures to reduce our emissions further and serve our stakeholders as well as possible in matters of environmental sustainability, it was time to gather more data on Mysoda’s environmental impact and clearly identify our areas of development.
We have set out to investigate our greenhouse gas emissions together with Green Carbon Finland. The scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions caused by Mysoda’s entire business for the year 2022 are under review. The review will be conducted globally in accordance with the most well-known and most-used calculation standard, the GHG Protocol (The GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard & Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard). In addition, we will calculate the lifetime emissions (Cradle-to-Grave) of our sparkling water makers and other products in accordance with the GHG Protocol’s Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting standard. The calculation work will be completed during the spring of 2024 and will be followed by the preparation of emission reduction measures and a long-term climate strategy.
What's next
Upon completion of the calculations Mysoda will join the Science Based Targets initiative and thereby commit to a new set of measurable science-based emission reduction targets for the near and far future. The initiative helps companies of all sectors to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. We have taken the first steps of many towards a better understanding of Mysoda’s emissions and areas of development, measurable targets and full transparency for both consumers and our business partners.
